Well, I have started to try potty training...and as you can see by the pictures below, this is about how well it is going.

Any suggestions would be helpful. I have only been doing it since Monday and I am ready to give up. He knows how to go in the potty, but he doesn't know when he needs to go. I know that will come with time, but it sure is frustrating. And he almost resists going into the bathroom everytime I say to go potty. Does this mean that he is not ready? Who knows, but should I quit now that I have started? Whatever, I will keep trying I guess.

I wish I had advice, but the picture is sure funny!
I am not the one to give advice, as we sort of are failing the third time around in this department. But... sometimes they just need a little break too. Maybe give it a week or two and try again. Then after that, just give up. Just kidding. Don't give up. Finish out this week though. You never know. It just might click. Or might be good to wait until summer and just let him be "FREE" in the yard. Put a little training potty out there. He'll get it.
Okay, so just as I was about to start typing, Braden came in and said he had to poop. Then all of a sudden I hear "Oooh, yucky poopy!" He didn't quite make it to the potty! :( Love potty training!
But, here is what really worked for us. We set a time (like an egg timer) for 30 minutes. Every time the timer went off, we went in to the potty. He really resisted some of the time, but what helped that was a potty chart. Every time he went in the potty, he got a sticker, and after so many stickers, he got a reward. After a lot, a lot a lot of stickers, he got a big reward, like a toy he was working for. I took pictures of what he was working for, and put it on the potty chart so he could see it. He loved that! We still had accidents, but he figured it out pretty quick. The reward was what got him to stop resisting. Also, a few times in his underwear really made for some yucky times for him, and he really didn't like that. Also, the best motivator was I hid all of his diapers and told him they were all gone. Of course I kept them, just in case, but he never used them again. He kept begging for a diaper, but I was firm and told himt that they really were gone. If he keeps resisting, I would give it up for a few weeks, then try again. But keep trying for a good week or two before giving in.
Sorry for the novel! I hope this helps a little. Good luck!
I have given you as much advice as I know. Simon just has been in big boy pants every once in a while. Now, in the last three days, we have been through LOTS of underwear. Today, we have only gone through 2 and that was because he had to poop, but forgot that sometimes the other comes out too. Matthew will get it. Try Cheerios in the potty. Let him aim at those!!! I've heard that works. Brayden saw Simon going potty standing up and figured out he could do that too, soo....it might just be a matter of watching someone else do it?!
