(This one is more of a journalish entry. Feel free to read if you like, but you don't have to.)
Maybe it's not that I am slow, it is just that I am way behind. I don't even remember all the things that have happened between the last blog and now, so I will just start with Mason's birthday. Our little boy turned 1 on the 15th and the poor thing probably didn't have any fun at all since everyone except him was sick that weekend. I was fine all morning long and then all of a sudden my stomach started hurting really bad. Then finally came the upchucks and also, Matthew was upchucking pretty much everytime I did. Then that night Kai got it. Thank goodness Mason never got it. Oh well, we seemed to have spread it to everyone else as I believe the cousins got it too.
After the wonderful weekend of sickies and birthday, I was invited to go with my sister Annette to go to Utah for the week. So, off I went, with the kids of course. I don't know if we out of our minds or just plain crazy, but it was me and Annette with 6 kids. We didn't think that we would ever get there as we stopped a zillion times. But it was fun. I am horrible at taking pictures, so I didn't get many, but hopefully my loving sister that took some will send me some she took (hint, hint :) ) We pretty much just hung out with or family down there, not too many big plans. One of the things we did was go to a water park. No, not one with slides and pools, but one with fountains shooting up out of the ground and a little stream to play in. Let me tell you, the boys had a blast! We will have to try to go there again sometime.
The other big thing we did was go to the wonderful Hogle Zoo. The heat of the day didn't keep us away from the many animals that they have there. Matthew changes his answer everytime I ask him what his favorite animal was. First it was a tiger, then it was the elephant. The last time I asked him it was the giraffe, because there was a baby giraffe there this time. But I believe his favorite thing there was the carousel. The second he saw it there was no keeping him back. Sorry to those that didn't want their kids to ride the carousel, but Matthew doesn't get to do that often, so I spoiled him.
We had a great time with family. Many a late night and crazy mindless chats. I didn't know that a dog could be such a topic of conversation for sooo long. :) Thanks to Caroline and Ryan for letting us stay at their house and keep them late every night. Thanks to Ryan for taking Matthew when he was becoming too much for me to handle. Thanks to the kids who loved playing with Mason. I am very grateful now for the wonderful boys who we have that are a lot better at home than when they are away.
While I was gone, Kai went on a motorcycle trip up to Canada. He had a lot of fun and absolutely loved the Big Sky state. I never knew it could be so pretty. I thought Montana was so hilly and boring. Guess Havre doesn't count for the rest of Montana. Apparently he won $100 for jumping into a freezing cold lake. Crazy kid. We sure missed each other while we were both gone.
It seems as though we have been staying really busy as of late. Getting ready for Kai's big back surgery on the 2nd is our main thing. It seems like it will never come, but thank goodness it is only next week. Also, Kai has started some online classes with Northwest. He is enjoying it so far, but it will be a lot of work. I have stayed busy taking care of the kids and working a little bit in the morning for Kai's mom.
We are enjoying life and are excited for the new stage in life of having a good back. Matthew is growing big and it is so much fun to have a conversation with him. I was doing something today and he asked me what I was doing. I said, "I'm going crazy, you want to come?" He responded by saying, "Ok, I'm comin'!" That made me laugh a lot. I will ask him all the time if he is a silly goose and he says, "No, I'm a goofball." What entertainment we have. Mason is working on walking. He is doing good, but it is hard to move those chunky legs. He's just plain cute. We are soooo blessed.
