Yes, today I finally took Matthew to the froggy pond over at Homesteader park. We had planned on going yesterday as we had some people invite us, so I got him all in his swimmer diapers and sunscreen on him, in the car, driving and two seconds later he was asleep. Well, if I had been a more devoted swimmer, I would have said oh well, we are going swimming. But as he hadn't had a good nap for a few days or a very good sleep at all at night, I said, "Forget it" and went back home and put him in bed. But we made it today and he loved it for the 15 minutes he was in there. For those who have never been to the froggy pond, the water is very very cold. I stuck my feet in so that I could help him in and was surprised at how cold it was. I was a little uneasy about putting him in that cold of water, but I stuck his feet in slowly. Once he got used to it he loved it. He would have loved to go play with all of the kids that were there, but they get a little crazy and splash everyone and I am not sure he was too sure about himself in there anyway. He tried to splash others, but since there was no one around him he mostly just got himself and me. He wanted to sit in it, but couldn't bring himself to putting his whole body into that freezing of water. But, then he saw the swings and slides and decided he was done with the water, he wanted to go slide. Well, I am not a big fan of slides for kids that are 18 months old. I have to have someone at the top to help him and someone at the bottom to help him. Maybe I am just an over protective mother. But twice I have had to rescue him from going down head first on his back. So, I decided to just let him swing. He was ok with it for second, but decided he still wanted to slide. As I said, I wasn't going to do that today, so I just took him to McDonald's instead and we shared a double cheeseburger. I actually got him the chicken selects, but he preferred by hamburger.
Oh yes, before all of this we went to the library. Matthew's first trip to the library to get books for himself. Oh boy, what an adventure that was. Matthew absolutely loves books and he probably would have got all of the ones that he could handle, but as I don't really want to read really long books to a little boy, I made him stick to the cardboard book ones. But, now I know, he will be a child that enjoys going to the library. In fact it got me into the mode of wanting to read more books. So I got one for myself also and hopefully will enjoy it.
After all was said and done, we ended with a nap. I wasn't planning on taking one, but started reading some of the stuff for my MT program and couldn't keep my eyes open, so gave in. I've decided that I probably need to attempt a mother-son date at least once a week. We'll see what happens, maybe not to the froggy pond everytime, but if there are any good ideas out there, just let me know. :)

Sounds like a fun date! What book did you get? Just curious--I'm always looking for something good to read.
Probably something that you have already read. It is called "The Shunning" by Beverly Lewis. I tried reading it before, but couldn't get into it. We'll see if I can do better this time.
