He's Here!!!!
He has finally arrived!!!! Mason Kristoffer Brown was born on August 15th at 12:18 p.m. The story goes that I had my appointment on the 14th and was told I had to wait until the 19th to be induced. But he wanted me to take a nonstress test that day anyhow. So, I went over to the hospital to get this done and the nurses asked how dilated I was. I told them I was at a 4 and 80% effaced. They were like, "Let's just break your water." So, they did the test and they were thinking that the baby didn't have enough fluid around him, so I had to have another ultrasound. There was enough fluid, but they decided to just induce me anyhow. So, I was told to come in at 5:00 the next morning. Well, I was thinking the rest of that evening I might just have the baby before that because I, again, had my membranes stripped and I was starting to get contractions pretty close together, but then they went away. The next morning we headed to the hospital. I was put on the fetal monitor and the nurse was watching it and said, "I don't even think we need to put you on the Pitocin because you are contracting regularly." So, she called the doctor, he said wait till he comes in. At 7:30 he came in, checked me and he decided to just break my water. After that, things started rolling pretty fast. My contractions started hurting pretty bad. Around 8:30 or 9:00 I asked for an epidural and the guy actually came pretty fast. I was trying to get it soon enough so that I wasn't hurting too bad by the time he was able to come. Well, I was hurting pretty bad when he came, which worried me because last time when I was getting an epidural I had a contraction right when he pushed me forward to put the needle in and it hurt like crazy. This was a different guy and he did awesome. He just let me contract each time, which was at least 4 or 5 times while he was there just talking to me and preparing me. Very nice. So, the rest of the time I was in heaven. No pain, but I really couldn't move. Around 11:00 or 11:30 the nurse checked me and I was 7 or 8 and 90% effaced. And about 11:45 I was starting to feel the contractions again in my stomach. Not too bad, but I could feel them, so I asked for more of the epidural if they could do it. Well, the doctor came in at 12:00, he checked me and said I could start pushing. So, I started pushing and at 12:18 it was over with. Our cute little Mason who weighed 8 lbs and was 20 inches long. Everything went well, he was healthy and I was healthy and everything was good.
We were able to come home the next day. I may be crazy, but I couldn't have been able to stand another day in the hospital on that hard bed.

Matthew was trying to be loving to his brother, he kind of doesn't understand that you have to be soft with little babies yet, but I guess either he will learn, or Mason will just be one tough kid.
Just thought he was so cute in this position. Maybe one of these days I will get a picture of him with his eyes wide open. Our Relief Society president brought over the little teddy bear, and I thought it complimented the picture a lot. What little I know about taking pictures.
So, there you have it. We now are the proud parents of two very handsome boys. Matthew is doing ok with having a little brother. I try to give him his snuggle times so that he won't be too jealous, so he isn't too bad, but it will still be a struggle. Mason is eating well and sleeping pretty good at night, for now that is. I'm sure it is the same for everybody else, that they find the second baby isn't as bad as the first. I seem to be more relaxed with Mason and not too worried when he cries. Of course, he doesn't really cry a whole lot either. He is just a good baby. But we are very grateful for both of our boys, they are such blessings to us.
