Concentration
I don't know about any of you, but when I get a good book to read, I can concentrate on it whether the TV is on, radio is blaring, or kids are crying. My mind doesn't wander elsewhere. And also, when I get into the book, I can't seem to put it down. Well, here is my problem...what happens to that concentration when I read the Book of Mormon, or any scriptures for that matter? I read a chapter every night, at least. But that's just it, I read it. Half the time I couldn't even tell you what I just read because, well, my mind has wondered a hundred different places during the time I am reading. I know that one thing to improve this is that I should read my scriptures in the morning when my mind is fresh for the day and I don't have a zillion things that I have been thinking about. So my question for you is, how do you mothers out there read/study the scriptures effectively? What works for you? I always try a study routine and it lasts for maybe, MAYBE a week. I know, I need to stick to it, but I don't know what works for me. So I need some suggestions. Cause when I get to that judgement bar and am held accountable for the things that I have read, well, I'm toast. I used to be better when I was younger at this, but for some reason being a mother changed it. If I could get any advice from anyone, even if you aren't a mother, what works for you?

I do not have children yet, nor am I the one to ask for advice in this category. However, if I find my mind wandering during scripture study I will write down ALL my thoughts on a piece of paper and then continue reading. If something interrupts my thoughts I write it down so I don't have to "think about it" right then. After reading, I will go back and look at my list. Let me know if it works for you!
I can't remember the last good study session I had, let alone a good read of the scriptures. I need to make better use of my time. Used to read during breakfast, but now... I don't know that I even sit for breakfast half the time. I do like Kris's idea ab out writing down her "interruption" thoughts. Also writing down your thoughts on what your reading would be good too... maybe your own scripture journal. That's all I have for you. Should take my own thoughts to heart. Let us know how it goes.
